Communications

Just as events are a potent way to spread the word about the foresight, strategy, and innovation work that your organization has come up with—there is no getting around the fact that a picture is worth a thousand words.

At Social Technologies we have found that one of the most critical—and often underappreciated—facets of a successful project are efficient, effective communications. Thus, we have established a Futures Studio: an in-house design team that has earned a reputation as one of the best in the futures field. Our experienced designers and illustrators have created everything from attractive, scannable print documents to fully searchable online databases, dedicated websites, multimedia presentations, project logos, and short videos. For example:

Conference displays

Project: Our designers conceived, designed, and wrote content for a set of displays commissioned by an international food and beverage company for a high-level executive conference. Rather than reading a static report, the audience browsed a series of "windows of opportunity"—large panels that captured key consumer, technology, and industry trends with visuals, text, Web links, and artifacts, and that were refreshed with new themes throughout the conference sessions.

Videos

Videos can compellingly capture a futures event for a wider audience, or deliver a complex message in an understandable, memorable way.

Project: One of our recent video projects illustrated the generational "personalities" of America's four major age groups, showing how generational tendencies can play out in daily life.

Print design

Our print designs are always pleasing to the eye, highly imaginative, clever, and sophisticated.

Project: We recently supported a technology transfer process for a Fortune 500 company by creating a colorful, bound handbook that informed and updated the project teams and showcased their own best practices.

Project logos

A project may evolve through many phases, and its deliverables may cross dozens of desks or be viewed by hundreds of people before its mission is accomplished. Project logos are an invaluable way to "brand" a project across time and space. Personnel on different teams can instantly recognize project communications when they see them, and the logo can be translated to fit an infinite range of formats and audiences.

Project: The Futures Studio has quickly and inexpensively created logos and color schemes for almost every Social Technologies client project, with designs that are simple, attractive, eye-catching, and easy to reproduce.
